Over time, I developed a love for literature and its cinematic adaptations. At school, I encouraged my students in their final years to explore the connection between literature and film. This same passion found its way into my painting practice.
I began creating filmstills from classics that left a deep mark on culture and film history — such as Taxi Driver, where Jack’s jacket and De Niro’s iconic haircut even became fashion statements.
In works inspired by Vermeer (Girl with a Pearl Earring) and the life of Frida Kahlo, I combined my fascination for artistic styles and biographies with my interest in cinema.
My passion for history also shines through in the filmstills, especially in large-scale works such as Der Untergang and A Woman in Berlin.
